Raga-rock vecchia maniera in crescendo (“Sameness”), jingle-jangle intiepiditi (“Different Departures”), e un gruppetto di strumentali per senile piano new age (“Per Se”, “Of At Time”, “Black Willows”) sono gli stantii ingredienti che in “Never Been” portano avanti l'ormai gloriosa saga dei For Against.

Per l’ottavo disco in studio, Jeffrey Runnings – assistito ancora una volta da Words On Music – sceglie di suonare il più genericamente possibile un filtro nefasto che annienta anche gli ultimi spunti di “Shade Side Sunny Side”.
