Oasis, Liam Gallagher reveals: “Here's why we won't be releasing a new album”

20-07-2026

Liam Gallagher has once again addressed the possibility of a new Oasis album, and once again he's dampening fans' hopes. Ever since the band announced the reunion that led to the 2025 tour, rumors of a possible record of new material have never really stopped, but the singer keeps insisting it's not on the group's agenda.
A couple of years ago he'd already fueled speculation with a joke on X, only to deny it all afterwards: “There is no Oasis album in the works, I was just joking.” In the past few hours he returned to the subject, responding to yet another fan's request. “No, I'm not prepared for the backlash if it doesn't sell 100 million copies in the first hour alone, if it doesn't cure bad breath and the nation's constipation, and if it doesn't turn back time for Cher and other bull****. We're just doing a few gigs, so be happy, thanks,” Gallagher wrote, implying that the weight of expectations would simply be unmanageable.

While ruling out a new record, Liam still had fun imagining what an eventual Oasis album might sound like: “I like to think it would still sound like Oasis and that we wouldn't turn into a bunch of electronic umbrellas desperately trying to keep up with the KIDS, know what I mean, brother?”
This isn't the first time the singer has tackled the subject. Back in April, with his usual sarcasm, he'd already explained that if the record failed to live up to the band's classics, “people would complain, every music magazine would give it 4 out of 5 stars, we'd cry, the pressure would become too much and we'd split up again, so f*** it.”
As often happens on social media, Gallagher alternated between jokes and jabs. Just before that, he'd replied to another fan by ironically announcing that the new album would be “out next week.” In other posts he recounted having “nearly copped it” during the halftime show of the football World Cup final, and he also hit back at System Of A Down, who had joked about Oasis during a concert a few days earlier: “That hasn't gone unnoticed, they'll be getting something in the post very soon.”
