Madonna: new version of “Confessions On A Dance Floor”. “Live From London” also out

28-03-2026

Madonna returns to one of her most iconic albums, “Confessions On A Dance Floor“. While work on an official follow-up slated for 2026 moves forward, a reissue of the original album is also taking shape.

The project is called “Confessions On A Dance Floor (The Silver Collection)” and marks a celebratory move tied to the fortieth anniversary of the career of the artist behind “Like A Virgin“. Out on March 27, this new edition restores the continuous mix from the 2005 release and brings it to vinyl for the first time, preserving intact the unbroken flow that defined the record's identity.

“The Silver Collection” is a series of limited reissues celebrating Madonna's 40-year career. For the occasion, an exclusive D2C version is also planned, complete with a poster, due out on the same date.

The collaboration with producer Stuart Price marked a decisive turning point in Madonna's sound, steering it toward a polished electropop deeply rooted in disco that would go on to leave a lasting mark on contemporary dance music. Those sessions produced massive hit singles such as “Hung Up”, “Sorry”, “Get Together” and “Jump”, all of which topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Released in 2005, “Confessions On A Dance Floor” hit the top of the Billboard 200, stayed on the chart for 37 weeks, and earned Madonna the GRAMMY® Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album.

On the new-music front, the prospect of a direct follow-up to “Confessions On A Dance Floor” remains confirmed, developed as part of the recent deal with Warner Records. It amounts to a return to that sonic blueprint, already defined by the production work of Stuart Price, which had marked a distinct chapter in her career.

The situation is different when it comes to "Ray Of Light". Producer William Orbit has openly ruled out any follow-up, making clear that the idea of a "Ray Of Light 2.0" was never seriously considered. In a recent statement, he explained that he had pitched material which, in his view, could have carried on its legacy, but received no response. He nonetheless stressed that there was no personal friction, reaffirming the decisive role that collaboration played in his career.

Also announced is “The Confessions Tour – Live From London”, timed to Record Store Day 2026. Recorded at Wembley Arena in August 2006, the concert will be released in a limited edition 2LP on pink/purple Starburst Splatter vinyl. The release is set for April 18, exclusively at participating independent record stores, and gathers 13 tracks spanning the “Confessions On A Dance Floor” repertoire alongside classics like “Lucky Star” and “Like A Virgin”.
