Lucio Dalla: Sky Arte to air documentary on the “lost concert”

Airing on Sky Arte – in its TV premiere – on Wednesday, June 10th, “DallAmeriCaruso – Il concerto perduto”, a documentary produced by Sony Music and Nexo Digital and directed by Walter Veltroni, tells the story of one of the most fascinating moments in the career of Lucio Dalla.
During his 1986 American tour, the Bolognese singer-songwriter performed at New York's Village Gate together with Stadio. Already regarded as one of the giants of Italian music, he delivered an extraordinary set in the American city, with celebrated songs such as “La sera dei miracoli”, “Futura” and “Cara”, while the concert was recorded for a live album (“DallAmeriCaruso”, BMG Ricordi, 1986) destined to become a classic.

Besides bringing this unforgettable live show back into the spotlight, the documentary also traces the origins of the famous song “Caruso”, written that summer during a holiday in Sorrento aboard a boat, right near the hotel where the great tenor spent the final days of his life. The song is symbolically linked to the American concert, rounding out a story that also delves into the cultural connection between Italy and America.
