25-07-2026

Lou Koller, longtime singer and co-founder of American hardcore punk band Sick Of It All, has passed away. Koller died at the age of 59 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. "It is with incredible sadness that we announce to our hardcore family around the world the passing of our brother Lou Koller," the band wrote in a post on its social media profiles. "The sense of loss we feel right now is devastating. This year would have marked the 40th anniversary of Sick Of It All as a band, and Lou's brotherhood, dedication and enthusiasm never wavered over the years. We've lost a dear friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to lift everyone's spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic joke, and he won over crowds everywhere we played, across every culture and every corner of the world. In this moment of intense grief, we must once again acknowledge the tremendous help and support offered by everyone who donated to Lou's medical fund. All of you helped Lou feel truly special and deeply loved as he fought over these past two years. His battle is over now, and he can finally rest. Our hope is that, somehow, he can still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world."

In June 2024, Koller had announced to fans that doctors had found a tumor in his esophagus that had spread to his stomach, forcing him to stop touring.
Sick Of It All was formed in 1986 in Queens, New York, by brothers Lou (vocals) and Pete Koller (guitar), together with Armand Majidi (drums) and Rich Cipriano (bass). The band, known for their high-energy hardcore punk, made their debut at the legendary CBGB.
