23-07-2026

Litfiba return to play in their hometown of Florence with one of the most eagerly awaited dates of the “Quarant'anni di 17 Re – Tour 2026”. The show is set for Thursday, July 23 at the Prato delle Cornacchie in the Parco delle Cascine, where Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi and Gianni Maroccolo will once again share the stage in the historic Eighties line-up to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of “17 Re“, one of the most influential albums in the history of Italian rock.
The tour, made up of 20 shows, is a unique chance to relive over two hours of music that defined an era. For the first time, the setlist features the complete performance of “17 Re”, alongside some of the band's most beloved songs, including “Istanbul”, “Santiago”, “Eroi nel vento”, “La preda”, “Tex” and “Cangaceiro”. The last tickets for the Florence date are still available through the official MC2 Live and Vivaticket circuits.

The live album

The tour will also give rise to a new recording project. On November 27th, “17 Re Live 1986-2026” will be released, an album recorded during the tour and already available for preorder on CD and double LP. The record will feature live versions of all the tracks from “17 Re”, as well as the title track “17 Re”, which was left off the original 1986 tracklist and only released this year to mark the fortieth anniversary, after becoming a true cult favourite among fans over the years.
Released in 1986 as a double album (trimmed to a single LP only for the French edition), “17 Re” represents the high point of Litfiba's early artistic phase. The second chapter of the “Trilogy of Power”, opened with “Desaparecido” and completed by “Litfiba 3”, the album tackles the theme of power's victims through lyrics that remain strikingly relevant today. Musically, the record helped redefine Italian rock by pioneering a fusion of post-punk, new wave, goth overtones and ethnic influences, establishing the Florentine band on the European scene as well.
Forty years after its release, “17 Re” continues to demonstrate its expressive power. Its songs have stood the test of time without losing any of their intensity, becoming a permanent part of the Italian rock canon and influencing generations of musicians and listeners. It's precisely this extraordinary ability to still speak to the present that makes the celebratory tour far more than a mere nostalgia trip: it's a chance to rediscover a work that changed the rules of rock in Italy.

The meaning behind the reunion

Forty years after the release of “17 Re“, Litfiba are putting the reunion of their historic 1980s lineup on record. After the release of the previously unheard “17 Re”, left off the original album back in the day and later put out as a maxi-single, and following the reissues of “17 Re” and the live album “12/5/87 (Aprite i Vostri Occhi)”, the Florentine band has now announced a new live album recorded during their ongoing celebratory tour.
“17 Re 1986-2026” will be released on November 27th on CD and double LP, documenting the twenty dates of the tour that kicked off last month in Perugia. Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi and Gianni Maroccolo are back on stage together, the very lineup behind one of the landmark albums of 1980s Italian rock. The live record features, for the first time in the band's history, a full performance of “17 Re”, alongside the title track of the same name later released as a single. The album is already available for preorder.

The idea behind Pelù and his bandmates' project stems from a desire to bring the themes of those works up to date. “17 Re” becomes an explicit reflection on contemporary power dynamics, amid technocracy, global conflicts and democracies under threat. “This isn't a nostalgic exercise,” explains Piero Pelù. “That's exactly what the song born from the ashes of the old track left off the album proves. The melodies remain, along with parts of the lyrics and a fairly intact harmony, but in reality everything has changed: rhythm, beat, groove and spirit.” The idea for the release took shape around the celebrations for the album's fortieth anniversary — released in 1986, the occasion for which the band announced 20 dates with the original lineup (Piero Pelù, Ghigo Renzulli, Antonio Aiazzi, Gianni Maroccolo), something that hadn't happened since 2014.
