Kate Bush annuncia l’album “The Best Of Other Sides”

Kate Bush ha reso noto che il 26 settembre pubblicherà in digitale “The Best Of Other Sides”, nuova raccolta che arriverà anche in formato cd e vinile il 31 ottobre. La decisione nasce dalla forte richiesta dei fan, rimasti a lungo senza la possibilità di accedere a “The Other Sides”, cofanetto del 2018 che raccoglieva lati B e rarità nell’ambito del progetto di rimasterizzazione dell’intero catalogo.

That selection included, among others, the 12" mixes of tracks such as "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)," "The Big Sky," "Cloudbusting," "Hounds Of Love" and "Experiment IV." The tracklist also featured famous B-sides: "Walk Straight Down the Middle" (1989), "You Want Alchemy" (1993), "Be Kind to My Mistakes" (1989), "Under the Ivy" (1985), "Ne T'enfuis Pas" (1982) and "Lyra," written for the soundtrack of the film "The Golden Compass." Rounding out the picture were other tracks such as "Burning Bridge," "Un Baiser d'Enfant," "Home for Christmas" and "I'm Still Waiting."

At the time, "The Other Sides" reached number 18 on the UK charts, before becoming impossible to find on the market. Now, thanks to renewed enthusiasm from fans, Kate Bush is offering a condensed version in the form of a "Best Of," whose final tracklist will be announced shortly.

In una delle sue rarissime interviste, ai microfoni del programma Today di Bbc Radio 4, l’artista britannica ha parlato del suo ritorno all’attività discografica e dell’uscita di un cartone animato con un messaggio pacifista di cui ha scritto la storia. “Negli ultimi anni sono stata impegnata a fare un sacco di lavoro d’archivio, a ridisegnare il nostro sito web, a mettere insieme un libro di testi – ha spiegato – Sono ansiosa di ricominciare a lavorare a un nuovo album quando avrò finito tutto ciò. Ho molte idee e non vedo l’ora di tornare in quello spazio creativo; è passato molto tempo”.

The latest album of new material by the singer-songwriter behind "Wuthering Heights" and "Babooshka," titled "50 Words For Snow," dates back to 2011, preceded that same year by "Director's Cut," which featured reworkings of 11 tracks from the albums "The Sensual World" (1989) and "The Red Shoes" (1993).

A proposito, invece, delle recenti dichiarazioni del suo “padrino artistico” David Gilmour, che ha raccontato di aver cercato di convincerla a esibirsi di nuovo dal vivo, ha scherzato: “Non sono a quel punto”. L’ultima volta che Kate Bush si è esibita dal vivo è stato nel 2014, quando, dopo una pausa di 35 anni dal palcoscenico, ha annunciato “Before The Dawn”, una residency di 22 serate all’Hammersmith Apollo a Londra tra il 26 agosto e il 1 ottobre 2014 con 80.000 spettatori. Da quei concerti è uscito anche un album live (il suo secondo disco dal vivo in carriera) dallo stesso titolo.

Rilanciata dal successo a sorpresa di “Running Up That Hill”, grazie alla sua inclusione nella colonna sonora della serie “Stranger Things”, Kate Bush si accinge a pubblicare “Little Shrew”, un nuovo cortometraggio da lei scritto e diretto e ideato sulle note del brano “Snowflake” del 2011 – tratto dal suo ultimo disco “50 Words for Snow”. Il film in animazione in bianco e nero ha lo scopo di raccogliere fondi per l’associazione benefica “War Child”. Disponibile sul sito web della Bush, il film è gratuito, ma invita gli spettatori a sostenere le organizzazioni che aiutano i bambini colpiti dai conflitti. “Ho iniziato a lavorarci con l’illustratore Jim Kay un paio di anni fa, non molto tempo dopo lo scoppio della guerra in Ucraina che credo sia stato uno shock per tutti noi”, ha raccontato Kate Bush.

Di recente, la rivista Mojo ha deciso di ripercorrere la sua carriera in 50 brani, “da quando scriveva canzoni da bambina fino a quando è diventata un fenomeno art-pop”. Una selezione che copre la sua intera carriera, nella quale non poteva mancare quella “Running Up That Hill“, risorta a nuovi fasti – come ricordavamo – dopo la sua apparizione nella colonna sonora della serie-tv “Strangers Things”.
