A decade ago it was the Giardino del Circolo degli Artisti, the historic Rome live club that closed in 2015. Today it's an area finally coming back to life. Starting Friday 4 September, Spaziotempo opens: a new multidisciplinary cultural project that gives the city back a place for exchange and participation. A new story, built to connect artists, languages, skills and different audiences, born out of the Public Notice for the temporary use concession of the area on Via Casilina Vecchia. As set out in the call for proposals, the project will remain active until 30 October 2026: the concession covers only the garden and outdoor spaces, while the building that once housed the concert hall — now decontaminated and made safe — falls outside the assigned area and will remain closed pending future restoration work.
The opening on Friday 4 September is set for 6pm: the first sound will be struck up by Ruben of I Camillas, who continues to preserve and renew the songs and legacy of one of the most original projects on the Italian independent scene of the last twenty years. The evening will continue with music selections curated by Enea Pascal, co-founder of Ivreatronic and an exponent of eclectic, experimental electronic music, playing back-to-back with Colas, aka Emiliano Colasanti, co-founder of the independent label 42 Records, and with Bluemarina, a Sicilian DJ and designer whose work weaves together electronic music, world music and soundscapes.
On Saturday 5 September, football becomes a shared story with a live commentary of the Serie A match Roma–Atalanta by the editorial team of L'Ultimo Uomo, the Italian magazine devoted to sport and sporting culture. This will be followed by a DJ set from Coca Puma, one of Rome's most acclaimed producers and singer-songwriters, exploring a cross-genre mix of nu-jazz, electronic music, dream pop and ambient. The event calendar, on the following days too, will move between live music, theatre and performing arts, cinema, visual and digital arts, publishing, comedy, food culture and educational activities, with recurring events, themed series, festivals and special initiatives. The space will be experienced not only during shows, but also as a place to meet, spend time and help shape new experiences for the city. Spaziotempo will be freely accessible during opening hours, and most events will be free to attend.
Only a few events may require booking or a reduced-price ticket, without altering the space's public, inclusive spirit. The layout of the garden will translate into physical space the idea of a small cultural district: a place made up of distinct but connected areas, to be explored and experienced beyond the individual events. The stage and performance area will interact with a square for socialising, areas for exhibitions and educational activities, recreational zones and a food & beverage offering. Temporary, modular setups will allow the different areas to change configuration throughout the programme, encouraging encounters between audiences, cultural organisations and local communities. The full calendar and all information on programming and access will be available on Spaziotempo's official channels.
