PREVIEW: Clara Moroni – Grazie [Video]

04-02-2026

The new single by Clara Moroni is titled “Grazie”, and its music video is premiering exclusively on OndaRock. It's a song about an idyllic love, a one-of-a-kind encounter with someone capable of offering unconditional support, understanding and complicity, while in the chorus a mental and existential unease slowly starts creeping in, becoming almost physical: a sudden burst of pain that explodes into the realization that this person, and this seemingly perfect feeling, never actually existed. “'Grazie' wasn't the first track I wrote for this album. The idea came to me while watching a documentary about Sinead O'Connor, whose closing credits featured a song in which she gave thanks for the good and bad things she had experienced in her life. I had already built a very powerful backing track, but I couldn't find the right melody or a concept that could live up to the music. It was a moment of pure inspiration: the idea of saying 'thank you' moved me, and I wrote the melody and lyrics in one go,” explains Clara Moroni. The video for “Grazie”, directed by Mario Russo for Calibro 9 and shot in Lecce, doesn't illustrate the song directly, but instead shows three different scenes: a boxing ring, a motorbike at night, and a confinement room that turns into a rage room. Three scenarios that express a woman's ability to fight, to make the decision to leave, and to rebel, ultimately breaking the chains that bind her to traditions and legacies she will manage to destroy.

Born in Milan, Clara Moroni is one of the most authentic voices on the Italian rock scene. As a teenager she started singing, playing drums and writing music within the Milanese punk scene with her band The Kubrick. At 15 she moved to London to pursue her punk dream and discover new musical worlds. There she got closer to electronic music, and began playing keyboards and programming on computer. Back in Italy, Clara started working as a vocalist with major producers and artists such as Mauro Pagani, Jovanotti, Franco Godi, Stadio and Alberto Fortis. It was precisely during the vocal recording sessions for Alberto Fortis's album “Carta del cielo” that she met producer Guido Elmi (already a longtime producer for Vasco Rossi). That meeting gave birth to the project “Clara & The Black Cars”, which produced two albums: “Chi ha paura di chi” (EMI) and “Spiriti” (EMI). Her studio work with Elmi also led to an invitation to work on the vocal arrangements for Vasco Rossi's album “Gli spari sopra” (1993, EMI); that's where a studio and live collaboration began that would continue all the way to the Modena Park show in 2017. In 1996 she moved to San Francisco and began working in various recording studios, collaborating with Luis Biancaniello, a producer who has worked with Whitney Houston and Anastacia. Back in Italy in 2001, she started working on an album entirely in English: “Ten Worlds” (DMI/Self), produced together with Frank Nemola with an outstanding recording team: Stef Burns on guitars, Claudio Golinelli on bass and Adriano Molinari (Zucchero) on drums. In 2010 came the album “Bambina Brava” (DMI/EMI), with a raw, biting sound crafted with the help of a team of Italian talents (Andrea Ge, Angelo Perini, Max Barbieri, Alex Guadagnoli). The album includes the track “1000 notti” feat. Don Joe of Club Dogo, a forerunner of all the collaborations between rappers and Italian rock artists that followed.

In 2012 she released the EP “Sono quello che sono – Part 1” (DMI/EMI), on which guitarist Luigi Schiavone (Enrico Ruggeri) co-wrote two tracks. In 2018 she began working with manager and record executive Elia Faustini and, with the album “Unica” (DMI/Self), opened for Vasco Rossi's concerts. After 22 years of collaboration between the two artists, Clara decided to part ways in order to focus full-time on her own solo career. After years of intense and rewarding work, also involving guitarist Giacomo Castellano, bassist Dado Neri (Litfiba) and, on one track, drummer Eugenio Mori, her first single “Grazie” comes out in January, available on digital streaming platforms from January 22, 2026 and in radio rotation from January 23.
