From November 6 to 13, Livorno will host the twenty-ninth edition of the Premio Ciampi, the event dedicated to the Livorno-born singer-songwriter which this year will once again weave together music, theatre, poetry, contemporary art, comics and, for the first time, cinema. The title chosen for 2026 is "Oltre l'orizzonte c'è un'altra terra" ("Beyond the horizon there's another land"), a line taken from "Se… Ma… No…", one of the lesser-known songs by Piero Ciampi. The programme includes twenty events spread across various venues in the city, with a closing night on Friday, November 13 at the Teatro Goldoni.
Among the protagonists of the closing night are Litfiba, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti and Giorgio Conte, who will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Three different artistic paths, united by a strong expressive identity and the ability to preserve their own creative independence. From Litfiba, key protagonists in the history of Italian rock, to Ferretti, a central figure in the CCCP, CSI and PGR projects, all the way to Giorgio Conte, a refined singer-songwriter and writer for numerous Italian music performers.
The Premio Ciampi itself will instead be awarded to Gaia Banfi and Krano, two artists who have built a personal language far removed from convention. Krano, in particular, won the David di Donatello this year for the soundtrack of the film "Le città di pianura".
Singer-songwriter Magma, the stage name of Florinda Venturella, is the winner of the National Competition, while Giovanni Conelli will receive the award for best cover of a Piero Ciampi song. The prize awarded in collaboration with Arci will go to Elena Romano, for her ability to blend electronic music, jazz and singer-songwriter tradition. Januaria, winner of the "La Calabria omaggia Piero Ciampi" competition, will also take to the stage.
Numerous awards are dedicated to the other artistic disciplines. The Premio Ciampi Valigie Rosse, reserved for poetry, will go to Italian Valerio Vallini and American Mathias Svalina, while the Premio Ciampi a Fumetti will be presented to Andrea Bruno, who will also give a live drawing performance accompanied by J.H. Guraj on guitar.
For the visual arts, the Premio Ciampi L'Altrarte will honour Lamberto Pignotti and Hogre, protagonists of the exhibition "Identikit". The Premio Ciampi Cinema also makes its debut, awarded to director and audiovisual artist Virgilio Villoresi, known for his experimental approach. The closing night on November 13 will be hosted by Paolo Pasi, with the visual side entrusted to Riccardo Gioli.
Established in 1995, the Premio Ciampi continues to celebrate the legacy of an artist who could never be reduced to commercial logic, giving recognition to musicians and writers capable of following independent paths. An identity that over the years has brought to Livorno names such as Franco Battiato, Fabrizio De André, Francesco Guccini, Nada, Vinicio Capossela, Carmen Consoli and many others.
