Björk unveils new track at exhibition: here's "Nerve Bloom"

02-06-2026

Björk previewed "Nerve Bloom," an unreleased track set to appear on her next album, during the opening of the Echolalia exhibition at Iceland's National Gallery in Reykjavík. The new studio work has yet to be officially announced, but its release is expected in 2027.
The exhibition brings together three major audiovisual installations conceived by the Icelandic artist. Two are reworkings of compositions from “Fossora“, the album released in 2022, while the third offers a first glimpse of material from the upcoming record.
The track featured in the exhibition, "Nerve Bloom," is a demo version of a song expected to appear on the forthcoming collection of unreleased material. To pair the music with evocative visuals, Björk spent seven months collaborating with painter Natalia Kleszczewska and graphic designer Natalie Liu, aiming to visually translate the energy captured in the recording.

The Icelandic artist explained: "My role was that of creative director, drawing on the singer-songwriter tradition, where emotionally precise elements develop within the structure of a song. I guided the choice of color palettes, textures and settings in which the music unfolds. To make all this possible, during the process, Natalia often had to paint different shapes and sizes, different textures and layers of color. Natalie then developed the visual elements, designing and overseeing the CGI effects and finding a way to organically integrate the digital with Natalia's world, including my dramaturgy and creative direction."
