U2 also on the tribute album to Shane MacGowan. Listen to "A Rainy Night In Soho" by Bruce Springsteen

After the cover of "A Rainy Night In Soho" by Bruce Springsteen and the duet between Johnny Depp and Imelda May on "Haunted", new details have emerged about "20th Century Paddy – The Songs Of Shane MacGowan", the tribute album dedicated to the Pogues frontman, due out on 13 November.
Among the most significant additions is the arrival of U2 on the tracklist, with a version of "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah", a single released by the Pogues in 1988. The Dublin band thus joins the names already announced, including Dropkick Murphys, Glen Hansard, Hozier, Primal Scream and Tom Waits.
The full tracklist of the project has also been released: 36 tracks spanning the entire songbook written by Shane MacGowan. For U2, the cover's release will come shortly before the band's new studio album, expected between late September and early October.

The album's title revives a project MacGowan had long wanted to make happen himself. As the official notes explain, "20th Century Paddy" was in fact a title the musician held particularly dear. The album, curated by Victoria Mary Clarke, MacGowan's wife, will also include a 56-page book featuring memorabilia and liner notes.

Speaking about his rendition of "A Rainy Night In Soho", Springsteen said: "Every once in a while an artist comes along whose voice seems to speak directly to history itself. Shane's voice was deeply real, profane and honest; his writing luminous, alive and loaded with memory, to the point that its origin seemed a mystery to everyone, including, I believe, himself".
