The 30 essential rock albums turning 30 in 2026, according to Ultimate Classic Rock

Plenty of classic rock albums will turn thirty during 2026. The magazine Ultimate Classic Rock took the opportunity to compile a list of thirty such titles set to blow out 30 candles this year. “1996 marked a turning point for numerous artists – the magazine notes in its introduction – Phil Collins officially left Genesis to focus more on his solo career; there was a very brief reunion between David Lee Roth and Van Halen; and Slash left Guns N’ Roses (it would be nearly twenty years before his return). Meanwhile, John Anthony Gillis married Meg White, took her surname, and effectively became Jack White… That summer Oasis, the flagship band of britpop, played one of the biggest free concerts in UK history at Knebworth, drawing around 250,000 people… Of course, these events are just the tip of the iceberg – Ultimate Classic Rock continues – Throughout the year, numerous important albums were released: debuts, live records and much more. Not all of them achieved commercial success or received unanimous critical acclaim, but each one, in its own way, marked a key moment in the grand design of music history.
