Goblin, live performance of the "Profondo Rosso" soundtrack for the opening night of IMAGinACTION (Ravenna, December 8)

On Monday, December 8, the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna will host the opening night of the tenth edition of IMAGinACTION, the International Music Video Festival. To celebrate its first ten years, IMAGinACTION will kick off the new edition with an event bringing together cinema, live music and audiovisual language: a screening of the restored version of “Profondo Rosso”, the masterpiece by Dario Argento, accompanied by a live performance of its legendary soundtrack, composed by Goblin, authors of one of the most iconic scores in the history of cinema.

The decision to open the tenth-anniversary edition with this event stems from a desire to explore the deep connection between cinema and the music video. In “Profondo Rosso”, in fact, the music doesn't simply accompany the images, but becomes an integral part of them, building rhythm, tension and visual narrative. A concept that, in the years that followed, would go on to profoundly influence the language of the modern music video.

Goblin's soundtrack stands as one of the most extraordinary examples of how music and images can merge into a single emotional experience. The constant presence of music throughout the film turns numerous sequences into genuine visual stories, anticipating narrative solutions that would go on to define the contemporary music video.

Dario Argento's influence extends well beyond thriller and horror cinema. Regarded as one of the greatest masters of international film, his visual language has inspired entire generations of directors, including many music video makers who have found in his films an inexhaustible source of aesthetic and narrative inspiration.

IMAGinACTION's artistic director Stefano Salvati has also repeatedly recounted how Argento's work, and Profondo Rosso in particular, served as a fundamental creative reference while making numerous music videos for Vasco Rossi and many other leading figures in Italian and international music, carefully studying its cinematography, editing and construction of visual tension.

The evening of December 8 will thus open a special edition of IMAGinACTION, which celebrates its first ten years by continuing to explore the dialogue between music and image through unique events, major guests and exclusive content.
