Peter Gabriel – “Looking For The Happy”
A new full moon, a new song from Peter Gabriel. The British musician has released "Looking For The Happy", an eight-minute-long track that anticipates his forthcoming album "o/i" and continues the peculiar release schedule already adopted in 2023 for "i/o". For now only the "Bright-Side Mix" is available, while the "Dark-Side Mix" will arrive with the next new moon.
Having often explored melancholy, introspective territory, this time Gabriel chose to tackle a theme less natural to him. "I've always found it much easier to write sad songs than happy songs, and I thought: right, this time I want to challenge myself", he explained.
Queens Of The Stone Age – “Insignificant Other”
After weeks of clues, red herrings and deliberately cryptic teasers, Queens Of The Stone Age have officially announced their ninth studio album. Titled "Perfecth", it will be released on October 30th, three years on from "In Times New Roman…". The news arrives alongside a new single, "Insignificant Other" (listen below).
Fontaines D.C. – “Marianne”/”Six Shot Morning”
After a spell relatively away from the stage following the release of and tour for "Romance", their 2024 album, Fontaines D.C. are back playing live. In the meantime, the Irish band hadn't exactly been idle, taking part in various projects, including the soundtrack to "Peaky Blinders" and War Child's charity compilation "HELP(2)". At the end of July the band had also taken part in the BBC's latest session at the historic Maida Vale studios, performing "Roy's Tune" live for the first time since 2024.
Their return to the stage took place at the Baluarte de la Candelaria in Cádiz, Spain, the first of two shows scheduled in the Andalusian city. It was also the first Fontaines D.C. concert since the death, this summer, of longtime manager Trevor Dietz, regarded by the band as a kind of "sixth member". The main surprise of the night, however, was the live debut of two new songs, "Marianne" and "Six Shot Morning". The first shows clear echoes of Depeche Mode, while the second moves in darker, more menacing territory, with a pronounced electronic and synthetic edge. Here are the two tracks below:
Neil Young – “Second Song”
Neil Young has announced the release of "Second Song", a new album made with the Chrome Hearts, arriving on September 18th. It's the second record the Canadian singer-songwriter has cut with the band, following "Talkin To The Trees", released in June 2025.
The Chrome Hearts line-up features Anthony LoGerfo on drums, Corey McCormick on bass, Micah Nelson on guitar and Spooner Oldham on keyboards. Compared to the mostly electric sound of "Talkin To The Trees", the new record is expected to reveal a more intimate side of Young: according to the announcement, "Second Song" will in fact be a largely acoustic album. The album is already previewed by its title track, "Second Song", a first taste of a record that seems to steer Neil Young back toward a leaner, more acoustic dimension after the electric imprint of his previous album with the Chrome Hearts.
Susanne Sundfør – “I It Am”
Susanne Sundfør has announced her new album "Revelations Of Divine Love", out October 2nd via Bella Union, previewing it with the single "I It Am", a rarefied, ethereal composition that introduces the project's spiritual atmosphere. It's the Norwegian singer-songwriter's seventh studio album, the follow-up to "blómi", released in 2023. Listen to the first single "I It Am" below.
