Lucio's Revolutions - The World at Battisti's Feet

Battisti revisited with Fabio Zuffanti and Renato Marengo

by Davide Sechi

Moving effortlessly, and in a rather unusual, one-of-a-kind way, through progressive territories, dancing with nonchalance over world music scores without ever masking his own roots, anticipating the sounds of the future well ahead of time, from the first robotic murmurs to acid-tinged pulses that turn into trance, rewriting the handbook of popular song only to disown it after codifying so many of its tenets, remaining always and mysteriously enjoyable, being venerated yet never truly understood in real time, with misunderstanding and prejudice always lurking around the corner.

And yes, it's really him, Lucio Battisti, quite simply the greatest of them all. Sure of himself from the very start, yet never tamed, right to the end. Marco and Davide, growing ever more enamoured of the fake tough guy from Poggio Bustone, try to reread some of the revolutionary pages of the most celebrated recluse in the history of popular music, not just in Italy. And they won't be alone on this journey beyond Appearance.
