Active since 2012, the American crossover duo have released three albums plus various EPs blending punk, rap and industrial. Here's a chat with Yeti Bones and TheOGM on the occasion of their new album.
Hi Yeti! What can you tell me about the choice of cover art for the new album "Tomorrow We Escape"?
I'd say it's a reflection of our heart, our attitude, our soul, our Black skin, a beautiful skin, our feelings and life in general! All represented in a single image.
The song "Immortal" features a special appearance by Chelsea Wolfe, who brings her dark-folk into your sound - do you feel connected to her music and attitude?
Her music and her attitude are pure, authentic - we share the same energy!
What are your favorite modern horror films? Are you interested in old-school Italian directors like Lucio Fulci?
Yeti: I'd say "Hereditary", "Terrifier" and "Toy Story". I don't know Fulci's work well, I'm sorry! But I definitely want to dig deeper into it. As for the rest of Italy, I also really love the food!
TheOGM: For me it's "Terrifier", "The Collector" and "Beauty & The Beast". Same for Fulci, I'll look into it!
What's your take on the use of AI in music? Do you see it as a threat or something we simply have to reckon with?
Yeti: Both. We're already interacting with it, whether we like it or not, in our everyday lives. As for its use in music, I can say everyone sees it however they want, but either way, I don't support any of it!
TheOGM: For me, 'fuck AI music!'
Is there a kind of concept behind the songs on the new album?
Yeti: Yes, straight from the personal and emotional sphere.
TheOGM: And in the title itself!
Can you name five albums that shaped you?
Bone thugs-n-harmony – "E. 1999 Eternal"
Wu-Tang – "Wu-Tang Forever"
Dmx – “It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot”
Bad Brains – "Rock For Light"
Nerd – “In Search Of…“
What do you think of everything that's happening in the United States right now, it's crazy stuff!
We try to coexist with it, to live through the pain while doing our part for humanity. This isn't the first time things like this have happened, and it certainly won't be the last!
Which bands did you bond with the most among those you've shared stages with?
Yeti: I'd say 3teeth, N8Noface and Slipknot.
TheOGM: And for me, Korn, Injury Reserve, 3Teeth and N8Noface.
"Tomorrow We Escape": escape from exactly what?
Yeti: I'll leave the title open to your own interpretation, whether it applies to your personal life or not, as long as it can lead you somewhere with light!
TheOGM: The mirror! Thanks Frank for the questions!
