Giorgio Moltisanti

Born in March 1978 in Rome, where he completed all his studies successfully. At the age of eleven he discovered music, thanks to a Faith No More video on Video Music. It was his uncles who would later introduce him to the greats of rock and beyond. After a stint as a shop assistant in an old record store in his neighbourhood, which makes for a very nerdy, vinyl-intellectual, DJ Shadow-esque backstory (since we're on the subject), he also set up a collaboration with a fanzine and half a dozen journalism courses and masters in communication. A caustic contributor to the editorial staffs of various Italian music publications (Metal Shock, :Ritual:, Psycho!, Classix!, Rumore and then no more, as it's not polite to name names), he has always stood out for his intellectual rigour and his critical verve, even when uncomfortable. He is in fact firmly convinced, much like the far more illustrious Oscar Wilde before him, that while imagination imitates, it is critical spirit that creates. A fervent Pasolini devotee, he is fascinated by outsiders; he idealistically prefers to demand greatness from the great and support the small, rather than the other way round. He finds it terrible, however, when hagiography is applied to young artists not asked to be sublime or unsettling, but merely "youthful", or, in the worst cases, to simply seem so. For years he has run a blog titled Yesiamdrowning! and a page on L'Unità with the telling title Stati Nervosi Precari. He's had a book in a drawer for years. While waiting to find the key again, he loves long walks and good red wine, finds Woody Allen's films consoling and Albert Camus's books illuminating, and still feels like a lovable bastard, albeit with a thoroughly British sense of humour.
