Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, and led by the voice and songwriting of Karly Hartzman, Wednesday debuted in January 2018 with the self-released “Yep Definitely”, followed two years later by “I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone“, released via Dead Oceans, which had the merit of raising the band's profile thanks to a gentle, descriptive songwriting style often wrapped in blankets of feedback with a direct shoegaze lineage.

These were followed by “Twin Plagues” (2021, released almost simultaneously with the live document “Audiotree Live”) and the covers collection “Mowing The Leaves Instead Of Piling ‘Em Up” (2022). In April 2023 the quintet released their most important and significant album to date, one that sealed their definitive international breakthrough: “Rat Saw God“, followed in September 2025 by the equally accomplished “Bleeds“.
