Vasco Brondi

Vasco Brondi (Verona, February 1, 1984) is an Italian singer-songwriter and writer.

He was born in Verona, but spent his childhood and teenage years in Ferrara; he is related to guitarist and composer Maria Rita Brondi.

Le luci della centrale elettrica is the name of his artistic/musical project, which came to life in 2007 with a self-produced demo of the same name that quickly spread through the indie-rock circuit (the self-production scene). During these years Brondi began frequenting Bologna and its artistic scene.

In May 2008 came the debut album “Songs from a defiled beach“, produced by Manuele Fusaroli in collaboration with Giorgio Canali, which won over audiences and achieved commercial success, with cover artwork by comic artist and illustrator Gipi. In November 2008 the album won the Targa Tenco for best debut work, the FIMI Award, the MEI Award, the Premio Musica & Dischi and the Premio Fuori dal Mucchio from the historic music magazine Il Mucchio Selvaggio.

On 9 November 2010 the second album “For now we'll call it happiness“ was released, preceded on 14 October by the video for the first single, “Cara catastrofe”. The album's booklet was created by Andrea Bruno.

Immediately afterwards began the theatre tour that saw Le luci della centrale elettrica take the stage at six theatres in Rome, Florence, Verona, Milan, Bari and Ferrara.

The album entered the FIMI chart at number 24.

In September 2013 Vasco Brondi began working on a new album together with Federico Dragogna of Ministri. The following December he announced 4 March 2014 as the release date for his third studio album. The title was then revealed as “Constellations“.

In the meantime he took part in the reissue of the album “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” by Afterhours, collaborating on a new version of the track “Simbiosi” alongside Der Maurer.

The first single taken from “Constellations” is “I destini generali”, released on 28 February 2014, accompanied by an animated video directed by Michele Bernardi and featuring Alice Guazzotti.

“Constellations” debuted at number two on the F.I.M.I. chart.

On 3 March 2017 the new album was released, titled “Earth“.

On 5 October 2018 the compilation “2008/2018 tra la via Emilia e la via Lattea” was released, the final work to bear the name Le luci della centrale elettrica.

In April 2021 the single “Chitarra nera” was released, anticipating the album “Landscape after the battle“, out on 7 May of the same year. The track was produced together with Federico Dragogna, who has accompanied Vasco Brondi since his earliest days, and Taketo Gohara, who also produced “La Piazza” and the album “Tempi Bui” for the Milan rock band.

On 15 March 2024 the album “Un segno di vita“ is set for release, his second solo album.
