The Pineapple Thief Feat. Gavin Harrison

The Pineapple Thief are a British progressive rock group formed in 1999 in Yeovil, on the initiative of frontman Bruce Soord, following the breakup of his first band, Vulgar Unicorn.

Founder Bruce Soord created the band as an outlet for his creativity in 1999. Soord released the debut "Abducting the Unicorn" on Cyclops Records, which generated enough interest to establish a small but loyal fanbase, but it was with the third album, "Variations for a Dream", that the band achieved success.

In the spring of 2002 Soord then decided to change the lineup: the new formation was made up of his closest musician friends: former university bandmate Jon Sykes on bass, Wayne Higgins on guitars, Matt O'Leary on keyboards and Keith Harrison on drums. In 2005 Matt O'Leary left the band, and Steve Kitch (who co-produced and mixed "10 Stories Down") joined to play keyboards.

After the release of "Little Man" in 2006, the band released "What We Have Sown" in late 2007 as their final release for Cyclops before signing to Kscope, a division of Snapper Music.

In 2007 The Pineapple Thief's music appeared in the final episode of the MTV show The Hills.

Wayne Higgins then left the band in March 2008, but the group continued as a four-piece live act for a few years.

In May 2008, The Pineapple Thief helped relaunch the Kscope label with the album "Tightly Unwound", which was promoted with shows at the Witchwood in Manchester on May 17, 2008 and at the Water Rats Theatre in London on May 22, 2008.

On the same day the album was released, a mini-documentary filmed at the Half Moon in London was published on the band's website, featuring interviews and two exclusive live tracks.

2010 saw numerous appearances at European festivals and a full two-week tour of continental Europe.

The band then went into the studio in January 2012 to record their ninth album, which featured (for the first time) an orchestra and a twenty-two-piece choir. "All the Wars" was released in September 2012 and was followed by a UK tour.

On 8 February 2014 the band announced that Dan Osborne had replaced Keith Harrison on drums.

The Pineapple Thief's tenth studio album, "Magnolia", was released on 15 September 2014 and reached number 55 on the UK albums chart.

In August 2016 the band released the album "Your Wilderness", for the first time with Gavin Harrison on drums. On the last day of August 2018, the band released their twelfth studio album, "Dissolution".

Gavin Harrison once again took part as drummer, this time taking on a more active role in songwriting.

On 4 September 2020 their thirteenth studio album "Versions of the Truth" was released, followed by "Give It Back" (2024) and "It Leads To This" (2024).

The current lineup consists of: Bruce Soord (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jon Sykes (bass, vocals), Steve Kitch (keyboards, synthesizer, piano), Gavin Harrison (drums).
