Il Quadro di Troisi is a project by Eva Geist and Donato Dozzy, born out of correspondence between the two artists about the late actor and director Massimo Troisi.
This exchange soon became a wellspring of inspiration and identification that wove itself into the project, whose lyrics are sensitive and multifaceted, fitting perfectly with the musical phrasing and flowing like a cinematic monologue drawn from Troisi's own work.
Their debut self-titled Lp (released in October 2020 as a collaboration between the Raster label and Terraforma Festival) is a colourful ode to a fragrant Italian vision, overflowing with detail and deep intensity. Entire decades of national music history are compressed and reshaped into the present as the duo draw inspiration from their classic italodisco and synth-pop heritage.
In 2023 the former duo officially became a trio with the permanent addition of Pietro Micioni, and in October of that year released "remixes" on Raster, an eclectic collection of reinterpretations of eight tracks from the debut album.
On March 29, 2024, four years after the first, the band released "La Commedia", their second album, out via 42 Records in Italy and Raster for the rest of the world.
