Tyron Kaymone Frampton is a London rapper better known as slowthai (often written all lowercase). He rose to fame in 2019, helped along by the combativeness of his public image, and made his debut with “Nothing Great About Britain” (2019), blending UK hip-hop, grime and scathing political commentary. With “Tyron” (2021) he broadened his style toward more emotional territory, paving the way for the even sharper crossover of “UGLY” (2023), the album that won him widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences, and in which he experimented with a deeper fusion of post-punk and his original aggressive, electronic rap style.
