Róisín Marie Murphy was born on July 5, 1973 in Arklow, Ireland. At age 12 she moved with her family to Manchester, England, where she stayed after her parents' divorce. She then moved to Sheffield, where together with Mark Brydon she formed Moloko, serving as the band's singer until their split in 2003.
In 2005 her debut solo album “Ruby Blue” came out, and she went on to release five more records over the course of her career, achieving worldwide success - most notably with the breakout success of “Róisín Machine”, which in 2020 crowned her the new queen of the dancefloor, with a formula halfway between dance rhythms and glam aesthetics.
