Red Hot Org

Founded in the late Eighties in response to the AIDS crisis, Red Hot Org is a non-profit that has carved out a singular niche in the recording industry. Across an abundant series of original releases, plus various collections of unreleased material and remixes, the organisation stands out for the specificity of its projects, run with an unusual A&R-style managerial approach. Far from being mere compilations of donated material, Red Hot Org's releases often invite the art of collaboration, asking the most disparate artists to gather and/or compose entire themed albums from scratch. It's an ethos that remains fundamental to this day; in thirty years of activity, hundreds of artists have taken part in its operations, lending their talents time after time to the creation of a vast and varied catalogue that has something for every taste.

Launched in 1990 with the great success of “Red Hot + Blue”, inspired by the music of Cole Porter, Red Hot Org soon expanded its catalogue in every direction, bringing together underground and mainstream names in tributes and reworkings honouring Johann Sebastian Bach, Fela Kuti and the Grateful Dead, as well as country music and Brazilian music, with “Rio” and “Rio 2”, plus no fewer than four albums currently dedicated to the musical legacy of Sun Ra.

In 2024 came one of the most ambitious projects ever: “TRAИв423A”, with more than a hundred artists involved across forty-six tracks spread over eight albums, honouring the transgender experience in all its forms and shades.
