Portrayal of Guilt

Founded in Austin, Texas, in 2017, Portrayal of Guilt is the project of guitarist/vocalist Matt King and drummer James Beveridge (ex-Illustrations) alongside bassist Alex Stanfield. Their music is a vortex fusing black metal, screamo, grindcore and noise rock into a claustrophobic, ever-evolving sound. After debuting with Let Pain Be Your Guide (2018), the band kept pushing further with albums like We Are Always Alone (2021), Christfucker (2021) and Devil Music (2023). With their fourth album, …Beginning of the End (2026), they have further expanded their sonic horizons, incorporating industrial, nu-metal and hip-hop influences, confirming themselves as one of the most unpredictable and experimental acts on the contemporary extreme scene.
