Poppy is a figure built on short circuits. Born as a conceptual project straddling artificial pop, performance and internet culture, she has turned the aesthetic of the hyper-controlled doll into a critical device, playing with identity, language and the power of image. Behind the apparent polish there has always been an undercurrent of tension, a constant friction between accessibility and disturbance, between surface and unease.
Over the years that friction has exploded into an increasingly harsh sonic trajectory: from deconstructed pop to metal, from irony to a physical confrontation with sound. Poppy uses genres as masks and as weapons, never fully committing to any one scene or orthodoxy. Hers remains a solitary, shape-shifting project, in which music is at once vehicle, language and battlefield.
