Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer and curator based in Portland. Her first musical project saw her active on synths and vocals as part of a synth-pop duo. This initial approach was followed by an interest in house and techno music. Starting in 2017, after experimenting with creating a sonic accompaniment for images in connection with her participation in the Fin de Cinema event, she began moving toward properly ambient territory. Her sonic practice draws on a balanced intersection of electronics, field recordings and vocal modulations, with which she defines deeply introspective atmospheric soundscapes.
In February 2022 she makes her debut on Past Inside the Present with “I'll Look For You In Others”, an elegiac work composed in response to a painful period marked by the loss of loved ones. Bittersweet synth currents shape a melancholy journey geared toward overcoming grief. A few months later – this time on Balmat – she releases “See-Through”, an album in which she sets about defining a luminescent, multifaceted sonic territory, marking a kind of inner rebirth charted through an expansion of her vocabulary aimed at building simple yet deeply evocative structures.
Two years later comes “The Secret Lives Of Birds”, a tape released by Penelope Trappes' newly founded Nite Hive label, conceived as a kind of score for a non-existent documentary on bird life in the complex era of the Anthropocene, built on memories of what she witnessed and on recordings made during the long birdwatching sessions that completely absorbed the composer.
