A Korean multi-instrumentalist and composer, she debuted in 2016 with “Communion”, immediately revealing a versatile approach that blends the languages of the Korean peninsula's rich musical tradition with post-minimalist techniques, resulting in a sound with enormous evocative power and immediate expressive appeal. The sole author of her compositions, she employs instruments such as the piri (a double-reed wind instrument), the saenghwang (a reed harmonica derived from the Chinese sheng) and the yanggeum (a hammered dulcimer) to create pieces in which tradition serves only as a starting point, never as an actual destination.
