Panda Bear

Panda Bear, the stage name of Noah Benjamin Lennox (Baltimore, July 17, 1978), is an American musician known both as a member of the Animal Collective and Jane, and for his solo work.

He currently lives in Lisbon.

His music, difficult to pin down, has been variously described as alternative, experimental, psychedelic.

The stage name was chosen because the panda is Lennox's favorite animal, and it was accordingly drawn on his first published recordings.

Under this pseudonym he has authored several accomplished records that blend his beloved psychedelic textures, a cornerstone of Animal Collective's harmonic structures, with flavors ranging indiscriminately from pop to folk.

Worth noting, among others, are “Person Pitch” from 2007, “Tomboy” from 2011, “Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper” from 2015 and “Buoys” from 2019.

With his friend Peter Kember aka Sonic Boom, founding member of the seminal Spacemen 3, he forged a long-running collaboration that saw the two share parts of Lennox's solo work before arriving, in 2022, at “Reset”, their first record created entirely together.
