Niechec

Niechęć, Polish for “reluctance”, is the name of a Warsaw outfit, among the most original acts in the thriving nu jazz scene that has defined the Central European country since the early 2000s. Active since 2007, across three albums and numerous line-up changes they have honed a hybrid style of jazz-rock, post-rock and electronic crossbreeding, zeroing in on a murky, evocative sound built on both atmosphere and dynamics. Progressive echoes and nods to the solid local avant-jazz school blend with IDM influences and soft/loud dynamics, giving their instrumental formula a cinematic sweep capable of winning over listeners with very different tastes.
