MGMT are an American band from New York (Brooklyn), formed by B. Goldwasser and A. VanWyngarden in 2002. They won over audiences and critics alike with a singular blend of electronic music, psychedelic rock and synth-pop. Originally known as The Management, after releasing their debut album ("Climbing To New Lows") they changed their name to MGMT.
In 2007 they recorded "Oracular Spectacular", which reached number twelve on the UK chart and brought them sudden international fame, helped along by singles such as "Time To Pretend", "Electric Feel" and "Kids". Following the success of this album, the three musicians who had been backing the band on live performances officially joined the group.
In 2010 their second album, "Congratulations", was released, followed three years later by a new, self-titled work, "MGMT". In 2011 they put out an album titled "Late Night Tales", followed later by "Little Dark Age" (2018).
2024 brought their new full-length, "Loss Of Life", a more introspective and stripped-down album that nonetheless shows a cohesion the American duo had perhaps never achieved before.
