The daughter of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, Maya Hawke was born in New York in 1998. Besides music, she's involved in several other fields, working as both a model and an actress.
Her debut album is Blush, released in 2020. Centered on the dreams, fears and insecurities typical of adolescence, it showcases her light, natural voice with a clean, enveloping sound that makes very little use of electronics.
Two years later she releases her second work, "Moss". The moss in the title refers to the period of forced isolation and limited mobility that marked many people's lives during lockdown. On the album she hopes to reconnect with emotions that had remained hidden due to the scarcity of social interaction.
In the following years she increasingly consolidates her own musical identity, pairing her film career with a surprisingly steady output of records. With "Chaos Angel" first and then "Maitreya Corso", her songwriting moves toward increasingly narrative and imaginative folk-pop territory, with fantasy touches and writing suspended between personal diary and symbolic storytelling.
