Born in Monza on February 26, 1974, Luca Urbani, after a few embryonic early experiences, formed Soerba in 1994 together with Gabriele D'Amora.
In 1998 the duo released their debut album "Playback", produced by Morgan of the Bluvertigo.
The album includes the single “I Am Happy”, the song that suddenly launched the duo onto Italian airwaves and earned them a solid showing at Festivalbar.
After winning the silver Telegatto from Sorrisi e Canzoni with the track "Fuori di testa", in 1999 Soerba took part, in the young artists section, in the 49th Sanremo Festival, with the song “Noi non ci capiamo”, a track ill-suited to the kermesse, but one that revealed Urbani's love for electronics and synthesizer-driven sounds.
Over the following two years Luca Urbani wrote and recorded the ten songs of the ambitious Zerouno project, which involved many of the most established independent artists of the time.
Soerba's second album, “La vittoria dei cattivi”, was released by Mescal/Sony in spring 2001. After the release of "1996 Beside 2002", which collects most of the material featured on Soerba's singles, the duo split up at the beginning of 2003.
Meanwhile, Urbani stepped up his DJ activity, and during a holiday in Ibiza he was captivated by the call of house music. Under the alias Alex Biondo he formed "Deleyva", with whom he began performing in Milan's clubs and signed a deal with Contakt.
“ElectroDomestico”, Luca's first true solo work, was released by Discipline/Venus in early February 2007, followed by “Catodico Praticante” in 2011.
In 2014 he joined "Fluon" with Andy of Bluvertigo, and the following year he recorded the album “Fine” together with Garbo. With guitarist Fabio Mittino he also took part in the "Locale Tecnologico" project.
He has written songs for numerous artists, including Bluvertigo (“L'assenzio”), Alice (“L'immagine”, “Un po' d'aria”), La Sintesi (“Ho mangiato la mia ragazza”), Garbo and Fluon.
His solo career continued in 2018 with the release of “Rifiuti urbani – Plastica riciclabile” and above all with “Comunque vada è successo”, a project split into two parts: “Vol. 1” (2020) and “Vol. 2” (2022).
In 2024 Gelo Dischi released “Parlo da solo nei centri commerciali”, Urbani's new solo album, which features a collaboration with Pasquale Panella and Morgan, as well as a featuring spot from Pietro Lafiandra of Limonov.
