Lizzo

Born in Detroit in 1988, Melissa Viviane Jefferson – her real name – achieved worldwide success thanks to her third album, “Cuz I Love You” (2019), which earned her no fewer than three Grammy Awards. Her two previous records, “Lizzobangers” in 2013 and “Big Grrrl Small World” in 2015, had instead failed to showcase the singer-rapper's talent, still largely tied to a classic hip-hop format.

In 2022 “Special” confirms Lizzo's success, an energetic record largely rooted in sounds in vogue during the Eighties and late Seventies. The album reaches number one in both the United States and Australia and sixth place in the UK. The irresistible lead single, the disco-funk “About Damn Time”, gives Lizzo her second US number 1 after “Truth Hearts”.
