Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit are a US band that played a decisive role in the birth and evolution of nu metal in the 1990s. Formed in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida, the original lineup featured Fred Durst (vocals), Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums) and DJ Lethal (turntables, formerly of House of Pain).

Their sound blends elements of heavy metal, rap and alternative rock, pairing aggressive guitar riffs with hip-hop rhythms and lyrics often marked by anger, provocation and introspection. The band gained national visibility thanks to their second album, "Significant Other" (1999), which contains hits like "Nookie" and "Break Stuff". That success made them one of the most popular acts of the era, propelling nu metal into the mainstream spotlight.

Their third album, "Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water" (2000), further cemented their fame, debuting at number 1 on the Billboard chart and spawning massive hit singles like "My Generation" and "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)". The album was a huge commercial success, selling millions of copies worldwide.

After this peak in popularity, Limp Bizkit went through several turbulent phases, largely due to Wes Borland's temporary departure from the band. The group released "Results May Vary" (2003), which, while not matching the numbers of their earlier work, produced the single "Behind Blue Eyes", a cover of a Who classic, and still kept a solid fanbase intact.

Over the years, the Jacksonville band has kept making music despite lineup changes and periods of inactivity. In 2011 came "Gold Cobra", an attempt to recapture their original sound, followed by "Still Sucks" (2021), which was positively received by critics, proving the band still has relevance in the contemporary scene.

Limp Bizkit are known for their provocative attitude, both in their lyrics and live performances, which have helped polarize opinion among audiences and critics alike. Despite the criticism, their influence on the nu metal genre and on the rap-metal crossover is undeniable.
