Karol G

by Claudio Lancia

Born in Medellin, Colombia, on February 14, 1991, Carolina Giraldo Navarro, known by her stage name Karol G, is one of the most influential reggaeton and latin trap artists on the planet. She has so far received sixteen Latin Grammy Award nominations, winning five, and was nominated for two Grammy Awards, winning one.
After appearing — in 2010 — on the Colombian edition of the TV talent show "X Factor", she launched her music career, releasing the albums "Unstoppable" (2017), "Ocean" (2019), "KG0516 (2021) and "Mañana será bonito" (2023), which outside South America topped the charts in both Spain and the United States.

In 2025 "Tropicoqueta" confirmed her enormous global success, establishing her as the leading artist of the Hispanic world and earning her the headliner slot at the Coachella Festival in the 2026 edition.

Just a year later, in the midst of a lengthy world tour that will also stop in Milan (in July 2027), the more introspective breakup album "I don't regret feeling so much" is another overwhelming success, pairing slowed-down dembow rhythms with a highly refined bedroom-pop sound, reaching its peak in the duet with Greg Gonzalez's (Cigarettes After Sex) guitar on "Después de ti". It's an aching record, in which Karol G bares herself after the end of her relationship with Colombian singer-songwriter Feid.

Over the course of her career Karol G has collaborated with numerous artists from the Hispanic world, including J Balvin, Nicky Jam, Anuel AA, Ozuna, Bad Bunny, Becky G, Pitbull, Maluma, Shakira, Luis Fonsi, Rusowsky, as well as major international stars such as Bruno Mars, Drake, Andrea Bocelli, Nicki Minaj, Tiësto, the Jonas Brothers, and the aforementioned Greg Gonzalez.
