Ist Ist

Ist Ist are a post-punk band from Manchester, in the United Kingdom.

The band is made up of Adam Houghton (vocals, guitar), Mat Peters (guitar, keyboard synth), Andy Keating (bass) and Joel Kay (drums).

The band formed in late 2014 and was originally meant to be called Das Ist, a name deemed too technical.

Ist Ist built up a following on the Manchester music scene through word of mouth, after shows at venues such as The Ritz, Gorilla and The Deaf Institute.

After a string of singles, the band released two EPs, “Spinning Rooms” in 2018 and “Everything Is Different Now” in 2019, before putting out their debut album “Architecture” in 2020, which reached number three on the UK Independent Albums Chart.

The band recorded their second album, “The Art of Lying”, during the lockdowns imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Their third studio album, titled “Protagonists”, came out on 31 March 2023, reaching, just a week after release, number two on the UK indie chart and number 41 on the overall sales chart, their best result to date.
