Horsegirl

Horsegirl is an American alt-rock band from Chicago. The band's members are Nora Cheng, Penelope Lowenstein and Gigi Reece.

The trio was formed in 2019, the same year their first single, "Forecast", was released.

The all-female lineup released their debut EP, titled “Horsegirl: Ballroom Dance Scene et cetera”, in 2020, on the Sonic Cathedral Recordings label.

The authoritative US monthly Paste named the EP one of the 25 best releases of 2020 in this format.

In November 2021, the band released their new single “Billy”, their first for Matador.

The track was named one of Rolling Stone's “Songs You Need to Know”.

In late spring 2022, Horsegirl arrived at the long-awaited release of their debut full length.

“Versions Of Modern Performance” lives up to expectations, showing listeners how the concepts coming from '90s alt-rock - that of Sonic Youth and Pavement, to be precise - have been deeply studied and absorbed by these very young women from Illinois.
