Hassisen Kone

Active between 1980 and 1982, Hassisen Kone were one of the most innovative bands of Finland's first new wave. Led by Ismo Alanko, they fused the urgency of punk with post-punk, reggae, psychedelic and progressive influences, standing out for lyrics that were provocative, ironic and deeply rooted in the Finnish language. In just three albums – “Täältä tullaan Venäjä!”, “Rumat sävelet” and “Harsoinen teräs” – they transformed Finnish rock, moving from the youthful energy of their debut to increasingly sophisticated and visionary songwriting. Despite their very brief existence, they are now regarded as one of the essential acts in the history of Finnish popular music.
