Gaznevada are a Bolognese band active mainly between the late Seventies and the late Eighties.
As with other bands from the Bologna scene, Skiantos, Hi-Fi Bros and Confusional Quartet, the group formed amid the cultural ferment of the 1977 Movement, which was particularly influential in that city.
Their sound was initially a blend of Punk-Rock, No Wave and New Wave, and in the second half of their career they moved increasingly towards pop and commercial sounds, developing a distinctive form of Italo-disco.
The original lineup (1979) consisted of Alessandro Raffini (Sandy Banana / Billy Blade) – vocals, saxophone, electric organ, Gianpietro Huber (Johnny Tramonta / Hal Capra) – bass, Marco Dondini (Bat Matic) – drums, Giorgio Lavagna (Andy Droid / Andrew Nevada) – vocals, synth, Ciro Pagano (Robert Squibb) – guitar, GianLuca Galliani (Nico Gamma) – keyboards.
Between 1979 and 1988, the band's ranks also included, more or less steadily, Marco Bongiovanni (Chainsaw Sally / Marco Nevada) – bass, synth, Gianni Cuoghi – drums, Nicola Guiducci – vocals.
