Fever Ray is an alias of Swedish musician Karin Dreijer, formerly of The Knife. She debuted under this pseudonym with the single “If I Had A Heart” (December 15, 2008), followed by the self-titled album “Fever Ray” (2009). Her second album, “Plunge“, was released in October 2017, followed six years later by her third album of new material, “Radical Romantics“.
Dreijer was born on April 7, 1975 in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1994, she formed the indie rock band Honey Is Cool, where she worked as singer and guitarist. She and her brother Olof Dreijer formed the electronic music duo The Knife in 1999 and released a string of successful, critically acclaimed albums. Then came her new venture under the Fever Ray banner.
Dreijer's vocal style is sharp and piercing, with a strong Swedish accent and frequent use of pitch-shifting technology.
