Coez is the stage name of Silvano Albanese, born in 1983, an artist whose pop-rap blends the singer-songwriter vein of Italian pop with the more melodic hip-hop of the 2010s. Born in the province of Salerno, he grew up in Rome and got into hip-hop as a writer. At 19 he formed the rap group Circolo Vizioso with two schoolmates. In 2007 Circolo Vizioso joined forces with Unabombers to create the Brokenspeakers collective. As a solo artist he debuted with a self-produced album, "Figlio di nessuno" (2009), centered on his relationship with his absent father and still tied to the rap world. He became better known to the wider public mainly with "Faccio un casino" (2017), his fourth album, straddling pop, rap and singer-songwriter territory. Much of his career would go on to follow this same blueprint.
