Coez is no newcomer: he's been active for more than twenty years and came up in the Roman hip-hop scene, despite being born in the province of Salerno. Carosello signed him in 2013, and his second and third albums leaned more decisively into pop and a melancholic singer-songwriter style. The turning point came with the quadruple platinum independent album "Faccio un casino" (2017), helped along by his collaboration with Niccolò Contessa. "La musica non c'è", eight-times platinum, is one of those tracks that helped pave the way for the meeting of it-pop and pop-rap, much as Carl Brave and Franco126 were doing in the same period. Replicating that magic wasn't easy, to the point that he opted for a return to hip-hop with the album "Volare" (2022). For the album "Lovebars" he teams up with Frah Quintale, who's been active for more than ten years and has been musically close to the Coez of "Faccio un casino" at least since "Regardez moi" (2017), which actually anticipated that it-pop-rap hybrid by a few months. He too struggled to bounce back from the success of that album and its singles, scattering his creativity across the double "Banzai" (two volumes released between 2020 and 2021).
