boygenius is a musical supergroup formed by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus. The chosen name came about as a joke, born from the three friends' reflections on unpleasant experiences with male collaborators who claimed to be geniuses.
In 2018, the three performers joined forces for a joint tour: it was on this occasion that they decided to form the band and release their first self-titled Ep, which came out in October on Matador Records.
In 2020 came the follow-up with a second Ep, titled "Boygenius (Demos)". In 2021 the three reunited to perform live together, in San Francisco for a charity event.
After signing with Interscope, 2023 saw the release of the album "The Record", which topped the Uk Chart and reached number four on the Billboard 200. On the album, the distinct stylistic imprints of the three boygenius members are instantly recognizable and don't stray far from their recent solo projects. Yet the three musical visions blend together perfectly.
Then, that same year, a new Ep also arrived, but unlike the 2018 collection, "The Rest" isn't aiming to point toward new musical paths for the near future, but rather to offer a quiet conclusion to this intense chapter in the band's history.
