Boredoms

Boredoms are a Japanese band, pioneers of noise-rock, formed in Osaka in 1986. Founded by Yamantaka Eye, the Japanese ensemble redefined the boundaries of the most dissonant and experimental strain of rock music with a style blending noise, punk, avant-garde and minimalism, earning international fame among genre devotees.

Their debut album, “Osorezan no Stooges Kyo,” immediately revealed their abrasive, chaotic style, followed by “Soul Discharge,” which cemented their reputation. With “Pop Tatari” and “Chocolate Synthesizer,” Boredoms explored a more structured sonic complexity, combining rhythmic elements and repetitive loops into a style all their own.

In the 2000s, with albums like “Vision Creation Newsun” and “Seadrum/House Of Sun” the Japanese band added psychedelic and world music influences, broadening their expressive range. Tracks like “Super Going” and “Acid Police” have become iconic for their sonic power and innovative force.

Despite numerous lineup changes, Yamantaka Eye has kept the group's experimental, chaotic essence alive, making Boredoms a touchstone for noise-rock worldwide.
