Altea

Folktronica singer-songwriter Altea was born in Salento, in a home where music was the family's native tongue. Her father, founder of the group Alla Bua, passed on to her the idea of music as a collective, political force; her mother, a yoga teacher close to Buddhist spirituality, taught her instead how to listen and how to be present. Two distant worlds — the Taranta and the mantra — coexist within her as two forms of trance: one rooted in the earth, the other suspended in the air. Her approach to making music is built on this balance between ritual and meditation, between rhythm and silence. An unconventional singer-songwriter, she began her career as a member of the Naples-based group Thru Collected. “None” is her debut EP, released by Sugar.
