Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and currently based in western Massachusetts, violinist and songwriter Aisha Burns began playing violin at age 10 and has been touring and recording since 2006. Shortly after moving to Austin in 2005, she made her debut with the folk-rock outfit Alex Dupree and the Trapdoor Band, before joining the instrumental group Balmorhea in 2007. After years spent singing in secret, she released her debut solo album, “Life in the Midwater”, in 2013. Described as “twisted, ethereal… engrossing” by Dazed Magazine, and praised for its “delicate intimacy” by NPR, Life in the Midwater explored mortality and relationships with candor and wisdom (from Aisha Burns's official website)
